Ok guys, here's my question:

Since I am a geek, and I am in need of a new toy, I've been eyeing up Dell's Axim line of handhelds for awhile. The one I'm looking at is 802.11b-capable, and runs Windows Mobile. It's got a handy plugin for a headset, and an integrated mic. So here's my question: I get a softphone number from Vonage, can I use this thing to make calls if I can hit an AP? What the heck kind of software do you need? I have no idea, you guys are the experts, so lay it on me!

Why don't you avoid the extra cost and just go with a BYOD Voip provider? Vonage softphone lines are limited to 500 minutes and for an extra $10 a month extra it's hardly a deal.

The BYOD providers are really cheap and give unlimited worldwide calling as well as unlimited local and long distance. And they have no cancellation fee, Vonage does.

There is no cancellation fee for Softphone.

Incoming calls are free, vonage/vonage are free.

Get the plantronic headset sold on the axim site. works great.

Wireless works better than cellphone quality.

I was hoping you'd answer. I saw you've already done this with that model handheld. Would you mind if I pick your brain via PM when I get it? Very Happy

Just wanted to update everyone and say that, as Pepperoni would put it, I have "Dell Axim running Vonage Softphone on SJLabs software for PPC2003!" I just got it today, and was making calls in about 20 minutes. Works great and the quality is BETTER than a cell. Highly recommend this toy!

if i may suggest.. ??

We make a mobile headset with superior noise canceling, superior speaker acoustics, and one that you can squish into a knot by accident, pull it back out of your pocket and it's fine.
(Our mobile headsets will also work in extremely noisy/windy conditions where others will not)

We make "push to talk' button models in your handheld supports that as well..

Smile

if anyone would like to try one, you can PM me.. or e-mail me.

Hmmm... Checked out your website. So your headsets have a superior sound quality to the ubiquitous (sp?) Plantronics? Just curious... The mobile and Chameleon line look interesting!
