Post subject: Very HAPPY Customer!
Hi guys..
Like so many, I get tired and worn out from all the griping as well as the constant negative comments about
Vonage
service.. Well...... I'm here to make a POSITIVE comment! I have been with
Vonage
since August, and so far I have had only ONE conversation that went all broken up. My party hung up, I called back and all was well. Just ONE incident, people! No caller ID problems, no voice quality problems, NO problems period! The service is always there, people on the other end are amazed that I'm talking over the internet, which in turn gets them interested in finding out more about the technology. From the suggestions of other fine members of this message community, I went out and bought a Uniden 8860 cordless phone and now I'm even happier than before! I use a PAP2 which I have taken on trips and used on the road with great success. I simply do not understand why so many people cannot find satisfaction with
Voip
as I have experienced it over the past few months in many different environments with virtually no issues whatsoever. No, I haven't dealt with their customer service department yet, but the service has been so reliable I haven't had a need to call them!! That's the way it's supposed to be, agreed? Good going
Vonage
, you guys rock. And thanks to all of you guys here on this message board who have been very helpful and PATIENT to offer tips and ideas for the rest of us. I usually keep quiet (my first post in fact) but this time I felt it was time to speak up. I am proud to be a
Vonage
subscriber and plan to stick with it for the forseeable future.
By the way, I finally bought a fax machine (yeah, I know.. I'm way behind the times!!) and faxing works GREAT on Vonage.. It's so cool to send as many faxes as I like and not have to worry about long distance charges!
Regards,
Steve

I think Vonage's advertising brings on some of the lack of customer satisfaction. They advertise it as a drop in replacement for existing land lines, and it's not.
Traditional land lines are probably the most stable consumer technology invented in the past couple of centuries. You plug in your phone and never think about it again. It works 99.999% of the time, with or without power. There's a tremendous infrastructure built to support it, with tons of redundancy, which has had many, many years to work out the bugs, and the providers are legally obligated to provide a specific level of service uptime.
Vonage
is a service. It's dependent on your internet connection, which is typically no where near as stable as a typical land line, and has no quality of service requirement to uphold. It's newer technology that is still shaking out bugs. It requires at least a basic understanding of how things work in order to get the most out of it (ex: if your computer is loaded with spyware and clogging you inet connection, your
Vonage
service is going to suck). It's dependent on consumer level electionic devices that are extremely weak compared to the stuff that a traditional phone company would use. There's no redundancy, unless you build it yourself.
If you know what you're getting and set your expectations appropriately, then I think the odds are good that you'll be satisfied with
Vonage
. If you expect
Vonage
to be exactly the same as a traditional land line, only cheaper - then you're likely to be disatisfied. IMO,
Vonage
should do a better job explaining that in their adds. Otherwise, as more and more less technically savy folks start using the service, the customer satisfaction will tank.
Me - I've had
Vonage
for a few weeks and it's met my expectations. I'm happy and plan on keeping it. I wouldn't recommend it to my less technically savy parents (at least as a primary line), though. And I wouldn't run a business that was 100% dependent on having voice lines up all the time.
The customer should know what they are buying and
Vonage
should be very discrete in explaining what they are selling.

me too!
A very happy customer so far, have no major problem other than the VMWI blinking on my RTP300 while there was no voicemail but i followed advice I found here in this forum and was able to clear the blinking lite.
I did have a chance to test drive customer care, not a pleasant experience I have to admit. My call was answered immediately but the voice quality was so poor it sounded like customer care was using
Voip
over a 300 baud modem.
I signed up with
Vonage
on Christmas day and i was charged from the day my account was created so I called to request for 6 days of credit for the time I was waiting for
Vonage
to send me the phone adapter via turtle express, after 15 minutes i was transferred to a supervisor who then put me on hold for 20 minutes and never came back. I called again and had to go through the whole procedure to identify myself and told the person i was put on hold and disconnected, i was transferred to a supervisor again, different guy this time and luckily i didn't have to identify myself and i was given 6 days of customer satisfaction credit.

Post subject: Happiness
I have read a few recent postings about how awful
Vonage
is. I am very happy with
Vonage
. I use it for my business. I have a PAP2 and have one line dedicatedto my fax. I set up the Simulring to ring my cell phone. Calls are clear. Once in awhile, I do have to redial, but that has become more and more rare. I was dating a woman who had
Vonage
also, and her service always sounded choppy. Then she moved, reinstalled her router, and everything sounded great.

We've been using
Vonage
for a few months now and we can't be happier. Sure there is an issue or two getting set up and the service will only be as good as your ISP to start with so it certainly is not for everyone. Overall though we have had very few issues and the problems we have experienced have been solved with a router reset.
Definately worth the savings.

I have had my service for years and it has worked pretty good. It's so much cheaper than a land line I can stand a few problems.
I don't think the advertising giving people a false impression is why there are so many complaint threads. I think the high number of complaints is because that's what happens on internet bbs people whine.

Glad to hear that you guys/gals are happy with your
Vonage
service. We just launched a
Voip
review site and would like to get some feedback from you. If you could have a look and possibly post a review, that would be great. Please do not treat this as spam. We are genuinely interested in what you think.

You seriously need to read the forum rules.
You are beyond strike three:
5) Although we strongly encourage linking out to on-content resources (other forums, news sites, blogs...) links to other
Voip
companies are not allowed. This also includes links to any site who's landing page contains any advertisements (Google AdSense, Amazon, eBay, CJ.com, clk.atdmt.com, etc) and/or banner ads for ANY

14) Signatures may contain one link only to a non-commercial site that does not violate 5) above. Classified ads (as determined by the site admin) in signatures are not allowed.
