Post subject: Setting static IP address on PAP2
I have the following setup. My ADSL feed comes into an Actiontec ADSL modem which has a wireless router and a single wired Ethernet output. The Ethernet output is plugged into a 5 way hub that connects it to my main home PC and my
Vonage
PAP2 router (the other 2 ports on the hub are unused). The Actiontec has a DHCP server that serves addresses to all wired and wireless clients.
I am now trying to re-configure my network to allow me to set static IP addresses for various devices so I have reset my Actiontec to only start serving DHCP addresses at 192.168.0.128 so that I can use 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.127 for static IP addresses.
I would like to set the PAP2 as a static address (no real reason but since I'm changing lots of other things it just feels tidier to put the
Vonage
device down in the static IP block). I have read the PAP2 manual and already played with the voice configuration menu so I know how to make the change but I would just like to check a couple of things....
1) Is there really only a voice interface to the PAP2? Is there no web interface?
2) After I turn off DHCP and give it a static IP address (plus DNS gateway, etc) is that really it? Do I need to reboot or will the PAP2 do all that is necessary to ensure that it can be found at the new address?
Curiously enough my Actiontec already shows the PAP2 as a static address but the PAP2 configuration system tells me it has DCHP turned on so I guess that's an error on the Actiontec's part.

Once you disable DHCP just give it the IP, Subnet,Def gateway etc and that's it
then I would perform a reboot to make sure that everything is ok.
Cheers,
Darren
