If it is any help, I have had Comcast for several years and have used four or five different routers before I had Vonage. With every router change I got different numbers.
As I recall the 24.XXX IPs were from the old AT&T net and I believe Comcast bought out thier broadband interest sometime back. Perhaps they are just tinkering since they are pushing to roll out the phone service.
I do know I am running right at 9 down in non-prime time so I can't say there are issues (Yet)*laughs! |

have you tried tp put your 'vonage' router behind your 'regular' router? and then try your speed test again, runnig through both routers? this would maybe help get you back to your 'normal' speeds again.. or, not even use yoru Vonage router for routing internet, just use it as the phone ATA.. and run your computers off the 'regular' router thats out in front.. |

In Chicago here. Been on the 24 Comcast network since the day I turned up my modem two years ago. I route the modem into a Sonicwall and everything from there is connected to a switch including my PAP2.
Someone mentioned the Comcast purchase of ATT. The buys outs happened like this. First there was Excite@home and Excite@work. They got bought out by ATT. ATT then got bought out by Comcast. Doesn't suprise me that they have the 24, 67, 68, and 40 networks. |

From week to week, there is usually one ISP doing this or similar tactics. I base this on the calls I get and the calls the other techs here get. The past 2 weeks has been overwhelmingly Adpelphia calls, then before that it was Time Warner, then comcast before that. The symptoms are usually the same, download speeds plummet, calls drop, QOS is in the toilet, etc. Remove the Vonage router and magically the problem goes away. Sometimes a MAC clone and network reboot will help. |

cant you just tell the router to manually detect a DNS server that starts with 67 or 68 insted of having it detect one of 24? my old belkin router picked up a 24 ip but i never really had a problem with it. just the router had issues. |

Sure, you can statically set the router to go to any DNS server you like, most popular are:
4.2.2.2 4.2.2.3 4.2.2.4 4.2.2.5 4.2.2.6
This probably won't have any effect on traffic shaping your ISP may be doing though. |
