He is.

Most all Vonage employee's here have the rank of "Vonage Representative" but he has asked to not have that labeled on him.

When in doubt, just ask me.

I am a super Vonage rep! and i am working with a customer right now to try and resolve this. well, he said he had to take another call at this moment, so it must not be that important...I love getting berated, then being told, "oh wait hold on while I take this call, I'll be back to chastise you in a minute...DON'T GO ANYWHERE" Lol

blather i read over your ticket, let me just apologize for having to fight your way through the first round of automated email hell. You pulled thru just fine. The guy who answered you finally sits right near me (in America, baby), one of our best people.

It seems like this is happening on Sipura (pap2) and TI (rtp/wrtp)devices? that makes the firmware unlikely to be the cause of the problem. I'll let you guys know wht happens with this one...

Well of course it worked on the numbers we tested to on the first try.

I didn't find out what it is, but I found out what the problem is NOT related to:

It occurs on different device types, on different ISP's, (DSL and Cable), for devices on different proxy groups, and occurs intermittently...lets see what those ivory tower eggheads have to say.

I had this happen a few times today and yesterday with a cell phone. not sure who the cell company is but it would just ring and ring and then stop. his phone is apparently off tonight as it went straight to voicemail and didn't ring at all.

I have justed started Vonage service, LPN not completed yet. I attempted to leave a message on my work voicemail system & could not. Attempted a second time immediately after which also failed.

Here is a suggestion of what the problem is for the Vonage rep. To leave a message on a Voicemail system that serves many phone #'s, the call must be transferred from the called # to the voicemail line. This line transfer is being perceived as a hang-up ( call disconnect) by Vonage equipment. This is also why a message can be left by calling the main voicemail line of the voicemail system, no line transfer has to take place. Basically this is a dropped call.

Sounds like a good analysis. The part about calling the main voicemail number (or any number normally answered only by the system) seems to be right on, but there's still some mystery to me. I've found that when I call my office, it will sometimes give me silence after about 8 rings. Other times I will get voicemail after about 13 rings. This doesn't seem to fit the model of a dropped call. Normal operation is for the call to transfer to voicemail after 4 rings.

I've been experiencing the same symptoms as others in this thread. Calling a friend's house who has Qwest DSL and voice mail from our Vonage line results in voice mail connecting after 12 rings. You can hear the change in ringing after the 5th ring (what their voice mail is set to) and the long time it takes to connect to their voice mail system. Calling our daughter's preschool results in dead air (disconnect) after 4 rings when it normally goes to voice mail.

ColdGin - let me know if you need a phone number to test to. These symptoms have been repeated several times.

I've noticed the same problem, and it seems to have begun with 1.00.60. I can no longer leave a VM at the office because of it.

I do NOT have the problem.

I have a WRTp54G running 1.0.60 ..

Calling my office works just fine. (from Vonage phone in the 480 area code to 602 area code). It's delivered via Qwest ISDN PRI trunks to an Avaya Definity G3si switch, which forwards unanswered calls to an Avaya Audix LX system. Direct calls to the Audix LX also work.

I sent some test numbers to ColdGin that he can use for comparison testing.

Hope this helps narrow down the problem.

Wanted to give some more information on the voice mail picking up after 12 rings. When my friend checked their caller id for the two calls placed from our Vonage line, our number showed up as calling 4 times. For each call from the Vonage line, it appeared as two calls on the Qwest line we were dialing.
