PostPosted: Thu Jan 26, 2006 3:17 pm    Post subject: Adding more than one email addr for Voicemail Notification. Reply with quote Back to top

Hi,

I am a new user and I am fairly satisfied with the service. I couldn't
search the forums, so I am not sure if this feature has been requested earlier:

It would be nice to configure more than one email address in the Voicemail notification system (for other family members). Ofcourse we could sign-up for a common account in GMail or Yahoo!, but that would be one more email account to check perodically.

Allowing to configure more than one exisisting email addresses would be nice

Thanks,
JRM

There is a way to do it that is relatively easy. I set up a gmail account (or if you already have one use it) and have the voicemails sent to that email address. Then you can setup a filter in gmail to forward incoming emails from vonage to any number of email addresses you want. Gmail will allow you to not have a copy saved in Gmail so you never have to check that account. I have it setup up to send the voicemails to both my address and my wife's.
Hope that helps a bit

Gmail only lets you forward your email to one email address. Same with Yahoo. If anyone knows of a free email service that allows forwarding to multiple addresses, please post it here.

If I leave Vonage for another VoIP service, this type of limited functionality will be the reason. There is no excuse for this kind of limitation.

Everyone using Vonage has to have broadband which should translate to you have a dedicated email server from whatever company you get the broadband from... so just go into your email application (outlook) or whatever is on your system and setup a NEW RULE to forward your incoming VM emails to your family's multiple addresses.

Using GMail you can create rules that would forward to multiple email addresses. Have any emails to your gmail address forwarded to one address, then do it again with a different address and so on.

I haven't seen this done with more than 20 email addresses, but it does work for smaller applications.

Right - in Gmail, just set up multiple filters with the same matching criteria (From address) and have each filter forward to a different address. Have the last filter delete the message.
