My WRTP54G is also up on 1.00.60 this morning. Anyone got a changelog? Wink

1.00.60 here, this fixes the excessive white noise when the call is answered on the first ring....but it introduces noise into all outgoing calls, lovely. Glad to see Vonage tests this crap before dumping it on the masses.

I just made a test call to my SIP phone that I keep around for Vonage testing. My voice was crisp and clear and lovely (well, as lovely as my voice gets, which ain't saying much, but my caterwauling was reproduced with horrific accuracy).

I heard no trace whatsoever of noise on the remote side. In fact, if anything, it was clearer than it has ever been. I tried music, taps, humming, the repeated "this is a test 1 2 3" nonsense. Everything.

The Vonage phone called a normal number which was forwarded to SIP, so there were two Voip gateways in use at the time. There was something on the order of a .5 second delay, which is about right on SIP->POTS->POTS->SIP calls.

I'm getting a noise floor of -17 to -14dB on all outgoing calls now, while all incoming calls have a noise floor <-60dB. Everything is "clear" during all calls, but outgoing calls have a terrible amount of white noise. The noise itself is generated by the RTP300 (isolated it and found it there).

Your tests are obiously more sophisticated than mine. I called my SIP phone and held a speaker playing "Oxygen Think Tank" by the Apparitions for an entire song, and found it quite listenable for a telephone connection. Wink

I'm on a conference call now, and I only hear the typical white noise I generally hear when on a conference. They keep putting the microphone too close to the projector. But the voices are crystal clear, and I hear the echo of my voice clearly (they have two speakerphones in the room and they like to fight each other for dominance until someone remembers to mute one).

Dunno about no dB's, ain't got a meter. But my ears say the call is good, and no one on the other end is saying "WHAT?" when I say something. Nothing I'd classify as "terrible white noise", and no baddies reported on the other side, but perhaps your standard and mine are different.

My unqualified, nonscientific test says that 1.00.60 is workin' fine for me on my WRTP54G. YMMV, especially if you got them so-phis-ticated widgets and gadgets and doo-dads that measure errors to the decibel. Or if your results really are different from mine, which is entirely possible. Wink

You've rebooted your Vonage unit, correct?

Come to think of it, I haven't. When my current con call is over, I'll restart it and run another nonscientific test. Any music recommendations? Wink

Changes I've seen so far:

1. "Accidental" incoming DTMF tones are not fixed, but they seem quieter. I've had one in the 1/2 hour conference call so far, I usually have 1-2 per call, so no real difference I can see there, except that they are quieter and less jarring. I'll test that more, whether I want to or not, next time I call my mother, because her voice just seems to emanate frequencies that Vonage interprets as keytones. Wink

2. Addition of "DHCP Relay" mode in basic setup. Don't quite know exactly what this is, but it looks like it can serve as a "DHCP slave" rather than just not having DHCP altogether.

Default volume is still a little high, voice quality seems good to me compared to previous releases (as good as 1.00.58 at least, in my limited tests), haven't received a call yet so no results on the call quality before caller ID or the quality of caller ID itself.

Further test:

Restarted my WRTP54G to make sure no "memory remnants" of .58 remained.

Just had someone call me, and I answered well before Caller ID information displayed. Call was crystal clear, both ways. Other side reported that it sounded like a really, really good landline call. His voice sounded really crisp and clear to me as well. No hiss, no noise, no stutter, no artifacts, no nothing. Neither of us used our speakerphones, so our standards were pretty high. Total test call was under a minute, but the connection was "pin drop clear".

The other guy on the call is at a company that uses Voip internally and bridges to POTS, somewhat like Vonage except they have their own POTS gateway.

So, based on a single test, I can report that the "noise if call is answered before caller ID displays" bug appears to be history, and that voice quality inbound and out seems to be good on both inbound and outbound calls in .60, at least for me.

WooHoo!

My router is a WRT54G. No P in it. Smile

Also the firmware is different. Just wondering what the "P" is about.
