Hi Everyone,
I am an old Qwest customer, very happy with Vonage. I have incrementally brought 6 lines over to Vonage, they're all running great. I did this by porting my phone numbers over to Vonage from Qwest.
The missing piece of the pie for me is my 800 number. In order to contnue using my existing 800 number, Qwest requires that I keep one land line, plus a long distance package. I set up call forwarding on an extra Qwest line, so that anyone who calls my 800 number gets forwarded over to my primary Vonage line. This works fine, except that Qwest bills me $81 ($39 for the line, $25 for the long distance package, plus fees) for the base package, plus a per-minute fee on all incoming 800 calls.
I would like to get away from this. Does anyone know if I can port my existing 800 number over to Vonage? Or is there another 3rd party I can transfer to, so that my cost is reduced? Unfortunately, giving up the existing 800 number and getting a new one is not an option for me.
Thanks everyone! |

This help page on Vonage's site specifically states "You cannot port a toll-free number to Vonage".
I am not sure why this is, but I guess you need to find a different solution. |
