I recently set up my Vonage service and at first couldn't dial out from my phone (Vista 100). Called technical help (on my cell) and they could call me but I could not call them. After about 1.5 hrs, the rep decided to send me a new RTP300. It arrived and didn't fix anything. I tried a longshot - plugged in a different phone and tada - could dial out. I also tried my Vista 200 and same thing, could not dial out. But then I tried to dial using the saved # keys and lo and behold it worked. I then tried dialing using redial and once again, it dialed out. Seems for some reason, I cannot use the # pad on the phones to dial out - big pain. Don't feel like going out and buying new phones either. Anybody have a similar experience or better yet, a solution? |

Other things that don't work:
1.red light indicating there is a message waiting
2.dial tone beeping indicating there is a message waiting
3.long distance ring
Is it just me with these issues or are these things we no longer have available to get the price benefit? |

are Vista phones maybe Digital, not Analog? that coul dbe a reason for your dialing problem..
can you try something, unplug the AC-DC adaptor and try and dial with your phone that way.. also chec yoru stutter tone.. (the light won't work cuz it requires the Adaptor for power)
the dial tone and stutter tones are controlled by the ATA, not the phone, but I suppose its possible again, that the phone when pugged in to AC power supply creates it's own tones.. maybe... the light should be controlled by the stutter dial tone..
as far as ong distance ring, thats nothing to do with yoru phone, that is a benifit that Bell Canada provoides to customers who subscribe to Call Waiting, they get the Long-short-short ring (or beep) to let you know that the call is LD.. if you do not have Call Waiting this doesn't work on Bell's Landlines either..
if you are still having trouble, i'll see if I can borrow a Vista phoe form someone I know and see if it works with my RT31P2.. |

Unplugged the AC adaptor and it works! I can dial out from the pad. Nice call.
Now, problem is without power, I can't use call display etc...
I am all ears if you have any other insights.... |

I'm glad you posted this question as I have the same issue with my Vista 200: it won't let me dial out as it gives me a busy signal after 10 seconds of silence. Once I unplugged the AC adapter the phone works fine.
Is there a work-around for this problem? I would like to use the display on the phone. |

This might be a silly question, but is your phone set to tone or pulse dial?, as no Vonage service works with pulse dial....the ATA MUST hear tones. |

I'm using the ol' tried and tested Vista 350 without any problems on my vt2442. Maybe it's a voltage issue with the vista 100/200 when the adapter is plugged in? Dunno, just guessing.
I also had no problems using a newly purchased Vista 390, which is a rip off of the old vista 350. However, I brought it back and purchased a refurbished vista 350 because the quality of the two phones is like night and day. Looks like Bell contracted a chinese company to produce the new 390.. simply not the same as the Northern Telecom 350 |
