I want to use Vonage 2 months per year from a vacation home. If I buy the adaptor at a store and sign up with Vonage, say June 1, and cancel Aug 1, can I then use the same adaptor the following June? Without having to keep paying the monthly fee for 10 months? |

I don't think it's worth it, with cancellation fees and all. Why not just get it, use it at home, carry it with you to your vacation spot, and use it there too? It's completely portable, all you need is a good internet connection. Carrying around the adapter is what alot of people do here, and is pretty easy. |

It would cost me $150 a year to do that. I have no use for it at home: no cell coverage and need a reliable phone service that works when the power is out. And I make very few long distance calls.
Looks like best deal is order the service with the free adaptor, cancel in 2 months and ship it back. I am then out only $10, the shipping cost. Repeat the following year. |

Probably not. I could be wrong, but I believe they have a policy against re-activating hardware after a cancellation. |

"and need a reliable phone service that works when the power is out."
Then Vonage is not for you. Every Vonage device requires power to work. There is no non-powered solution. Not sure what you mean by cell coverage, as Vonage is purely Internet. |

It is at HOME where there is no cell service and I need a reliable wired phone. Which is why I would not need Vonage there.
At the VACATION location there is excellent Cell coverage for emergencies so Vonage is very appropriate. (My cell plan makes using the phone much from the vacation site very expensive.)
All this adds up to only needing Vonage for 2 months per year. Due to the no-reuse policy it looks like we will be shipping adaptors back and forth each year. |
