Hello,

We've been using Vonage for several months. We have problems with dropped calls, occasional echos, but overall we're pleased. My husband even wired the jacks in the house so that we can plug phones directly into existing jacks and they'll work.

Here's our problem. We need to buy new cordless phones. We have an old dual handset 900 mghz system that is just about dead. We also have a 2.4 mghz panasonic that might or might not need to be replaced. The panasonic flash button will not work if a second call comes in activating call waiting. It will work on a regular land line however.

We would like to get a phone with a base and two handsets and just be done with it, but we don't know what is best to keep our Vonage working right. Is the 2.4 mghz causing problems? Is the 900 mghz the problem? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've been reading (being a new person to Vonage myself) is that the uniden TRU8860 works well....check out:
http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic1930.html

I recently ordered the Uniden TRU8865 to replace my current expandable system which is down to one working handset now since my daughter thought it would be funny to whack it against any hard object she could find.

I should be getting the phone this thursday....I'll let you know.

As far as frequency...I'd stay out of 900 mhz. It's way too easy to intercept those frequencies with a cheap scanner. 2.4 ghz and 5.8 ghz will both work well....I would recommend 5.8 personally but have never had problem with any of my 2.4 ghz phones.[/url]

Edge21,

Right, but don't choose 2.4 GHz if you have wireless in your computer setup, or plan to use it in the future. Wireless routers use 2.4 GHz and interference could be a problem.

I recently tried to replace my 2.4/5.8 hybrid ATT 5800 series phone and handsets with the latest and greatest full 5.8 Uniden 465 phone with 400 series handsets, but the range on the Uniden was less than the ATT. My handset in the living room (2nd busiest phone in the house) didn't work, so the whole Uniden set went back to Fry's. I thought the digital 5.8 would have better range, but it appears not to be so.

FWIW
