All of a sudden, last Wednesday, my stutter tone and VMI light quits working. I called Vonage.

The person on their Customer Support desk asked me this question: "Is it important for you to have a stutter tone or a message light?" I was speechless! Do I really need to know that someone left us a message? I will have to think hard about that one!

It has been 6 days now. No one ever gives me an update so I have to call them each night. I get the answer "engineers are working on the problem. It will be fixed in 24 hours". I have talked to their 1st level support, 2nd level support and they are all equally unhelpful.

In the past 6 days, they have had me:
1. reset the router about 50 times;
2. asked me to log on to my account, disable the voice mail, reboot the router, enable voice mail and reboot again, about 50 times,
3. restore the router to factory defaults about twice.

At least twice they have captured some logs from the router and sent them to these elusive 3rd level support people (engineers, they are called)

NOT ONCE THEY HAVE CALLED ME TO GIVE ME AN UPDATE
NOT ONCE THEY HAVE E-MAILED ME AN UPDATE

No wonder they are cheaper than CallVantage and TimeWarner.
They don't have customer service mentality. They have incompetent staff.

If I don't have an update tomorrow, I am done with them. I will take my number back to a real phone company.

This is not the first time they have screwed me.

When I joined them, I was without incoming phone calls for 7 days. I had to call XO Communications to get the botched up number transfer completed, Vonage did not do a thing to facilitate my number transfer.

For all of you who like saving money, remember: You get what you pay for.

Want to save money, get Vonage. Want to get calls and notifications reliably, get a real phone from a real phone company.
You will have to pay more but you won't have to deal with people who don't have a clue about customer satisfaction.

I think they're email server might be overworked....when I called a tech about a static issue he said he was going to send me the 10.0.55 firmware link. After about 10 minutes on the phone chit chatting it still didn't arrive...so he pushed it from his side.

I finally got his email about 8 hours later.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Not having VM notificatioon would be very annoying...
