I've been having problems with Vonage since I got it in February, most notably the need to reboot the ATA at least once a day.
Since Friday, I haven't had to reboot at all. I know I've had a few interruptions in cable service (based on not being able to access the web for a few minutes and Trillian having to relog into my IM accounts) and my firewall has blocked some port scans.
Could it be the firmware of the Motorola ATA finally works as it should? |

I've been working with Tier 2 as well... A new firmware has been released that will reboot the Moto if it's Internet connection is lost for any period of time. This will force the Moto to call home and re-register with the server. If your on an old firmware you have to manually reboot the device whenever the Internet connection has been lost.
FYI- When I say lost connection it could be anything from a hard outage to a brief IP flood that would prevent the Moto from communicating with the registration servers. |

Yes, it's things like that used to lock up the Motorola. Used to be if the firewall alerted to a port scan or the IM software had to reconnect for whatever reason, it was guaranteed I wouldn't have a dailtone when I checked my phone. Those things are still happening with distressing frequency, but they haven't killed the phone.
Four days now with a dialtone... I'm impressed.

I have been runing over 3weeks now with out a reboot and have not dropped a call etc. I found that all my problems were in the router. I swapped it out and BAM!!! all is working great.
I am slowley regaining my confidence that when I hear silence on the line it is just the quality of the service and not a disconnect.
MOTO...did you have problems with the router when you hooked it up? |

As for me, I don't have a router on my system at all, so I'm chalking the new reliablity to something new with the ATA. |

My ATA went through a period a week or so ago where it would usually be dead when I got home from work. One day it locked up three times. I kind of suspected a major problem when I call support and immediately got voicemail. I was almost ready to punt the service.
Went away for the weekend, and the darned thing hasn't locked up since. I'm guessing the Vonage guys may have finally got a decent set of firmware for the MTA. |

Amazingly well. It even rode through Time Warner having some kind of problem intermittently last week without a hitch. I'm just about to the point of moving the MTA into the wiring closet, since I don't have to watch it any more. |
