PostPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2006 9:06 pm    Post subject: Setting up Vonage in Bangalore using BSNL Broadband DSL Reply with quote Back to top

Hi,
I'm having problems setting up my Linksys RPT300 router
using a BSNL Broadband DSL modem. The steps I followed are
shown below.

1> Confirmed that internet connection is working using
BSNL Broadband DSL modem.

2> Hooked up the RPT300 router I received from Vonage.

3> Followed the Vonage instructions that accompanied the
Router.

4> The internet connection does not work anymore and
NO dial tone either.

5> Not able to configure the PPPoE to work with RPT300.

If anyone has configured the RPT300 successfully using BSNL
Broadband DSL modem, please shed some light on this problem.

Is there anything that I need to do after completing the
Vonage installation instructions to get the router working?.

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated!.

Thanks,
Chandy

U need to login into the interface of your router(firewall IP ) something like http://192.168.0.1(depends on your router)

chose pppoe and enter the username and password in there for the router to lodin on to your adsl connection and there will be a choice for it to keep it connected all the time. check that box as well

and VOILA u are ready to go ... just restart the router soft or hard reboot.

Your computer is set up to work with your DSL modem, and that's not what it needs to work with the RTP300. Likewise, the RTP is not set up to work with the DSL modem. Change your computer to accept an IP from the RTP using DHCP. Disable PPPoE (but remember how you had it set up!). Power up the RTP, wait, and then power up the computer. You should be able to log onto the RTP at http://192.168.15.1 . The default user name and password are both admin.

Now set up the RTP to work with your DSL. Enable PPPoE, and use static or dynamic IP addressing, however it was done in your computer before you changed it. Now reboot the whole system in the correct order- modem, wait, RTP300, wait, computer- and it should work.

Considering Chandy violated the TOS by trying to use Vonage outside of the U.S. and Canada, calling CS is probably not such a good idea Wink
