I had this problem early last week and again now. When my brother calls me from orange New South Wales australia we talk for a few minutes and the audio drops or the connection drops completely. I've not had this problem with any one else and wondering what to do sense he calls me a lot. |

I've had lengthy conversations to Australia on my Vonage line without incident so I'm not sure what the problem might be. |

I'm in greensboro North Carolina using road runner as well. I notice it's only happening when he calls me, and is fine when I call him. |

Is your buddy in Oz using a regular landline?
If so, is he doing anything special on his call out to save international long distance rates from his end (using a calling card, or somesuch)? Does he use this method successfully on other calls he makes to the US?
Do you have another non-Vonage US number (work assuming your employer wouldn't mind, friend, or relative) that he can call you on to test and make sure it's Vonage (or does he call other US numbers frequently)? |

Thanks, he's using aapt as his caryer with a landline. The quality reminds me of some of these unlimitee longdistance companys around in the late 90s like cnm, hightech telecom and others who used forms of Voip He has many friends in the U.S. both using landline and cel whom he has no problems with. I have a suspicion that his carier could be terminating the calls sens things work fine when I call him. |

It could be (just a theory) that he is using a Voip soluion calling card or something, and the call is having trouble surviving the double-VoIP transition.
When he calls you that way, he's using a landline that gets translated to Voip and back to landline in the US on his provider's gateway. Then the call gets routed through a regular phone line to Vonage's Voip gateway, then it comes to you. This double-translation to Voip and back may be the cause for the problem.
When you call him back, the call may just be simpler and more reliable. |

Could be, he switched to another carryer and then to an optas landline in another location and both of these calls were also dropped. It has only been happening for a week but is consistently dropping. |

Today, I called and after a few minutes, he couldn't hear me, I called back three more times and it happened again. Usually he isn't hearing me and will disconnect and our second call will go through this cycle much faster. I also had a friend here in North Carolina on a landline call and get dropped. I'm using road runner, an RCA modem and a rp32 I've had sense February of last year. Any help would be appreciated and thanks. |
