So I've had this problem on occasion. Even tested it myself. I get a call, I don't pick it up, it goes to VM. Okay great. Now no voicemail is left. I get an email stating that number so and so has left a voicemail. Yet the email contains no attachment. So I sign into my Vonage account online, go to the voicemail section, and nope.... no voicemail left. I finally got fed up and called Vonage today. After getting through the horrible customer service in India, I finally got some barely english speaking guy in New Jersey.
So I tell this guy my problem. He says, ok, let me call you and leave a VM. He does, I immediately get an email with an attachment. Great, it works. Now he tells me that everything is working just fine. Well no kidding. I explain to him again what the problem is 'on occasion'. Doesn't happen all the time. So he tells me that the voicemail is just like an answering machine. That if it gets to the recording point and someone hangs up immediately, that it won't record. Ok great and dandy. It won't record if someone hangs up immediately. Now I ask him AGAIN, then if there is no recording, and no voicemail left, WHY am I getting the notification email???? THERE IS NO VOICEMAIL? WHY A VOICEMAIL EMAIL? Uggghhh! Customer Service is suckin AGAIN! |

It's like an answering machine "blinking" which means that someone "supposedly" left a message...but what if someone hangs-up? I get what your saying! but let me ask you this... Why would the machine "blink" (which is basically to notify someone that there is a message) if the person didnt leave a message? Would the answering machine know if the person left a blank message or not??? Unfortunately No! It would be great if it did. It just assumes that there's a voicemail coz technically the person waited til after the recording point before he/she hang up. Technically the person went in your voicemail but did not leave message. I guess that's why you're getting a voicemail notification without a voicemail attached. Should i then call my answering machine's manufacturer and ask them why the heck is the light blinking if there is really no message. Is it really their fault??? I get what your saying here...i think it would be better if they still emailed the blank voicemail. |

Right, I would much rather have gotten the voicemail with 2 or 3 seconds of silence (self satisfaction) than to not have gotten the attachment at all.
Oh and as far as the answering maching theory, ANY answering machine I've ever owned, if it blinked then there was at least a second or two of dead air. What answering machines have you ever owned? |
