Hi,

My phone adapter lights blinks continoulsy even if i am not connecting the phone jack to the phone adapter.

I am able to browse the internet.

according to the subject its an rt31p2.
sounds like another case of "oh my gosh my router connected to my cable modem blinks when I'm not doing anything!!!!"

If the Vonage keeps blinking it may be downloading new firmware, or if it blinks more then a minute you may need to turn off the power and turn it back on. If it keeps acting up then backup your CONF settings, hold the reset button located on the back of the router and keep pressing for about say 10 seconds. Then restore the CONF and then you have a restored router.

If it's upgrading don't do anything to the router while in upgrade or you could have a nice blue box that is messed up.

Which light is it?

If it's the PHONE light, then you may just have voice mail, or the router thinks incorrectly that you have voice mail. If you don't have any voice mail, and it bothers you, then either:

1. Check voicemail and make sure you disconnect by pressing *8 to disconnect, which forces a logoff and may clear up the problem.
2. Calling Vonage to have it reset.
3. "Do it yourself" fix with black electrician's tape or other opaque "coverup" material. Wink

If it's the INTERNET light, and you are plugged into your cable modem, this is normal for some cable modems. They show activity all the time whether you are using your connection or not (generally you are seeing indications of all the traffic on your local Cable node in those cases).

If it's the POWER light, call Vonage. Your router may be taking a firmware upgrade, or there may be something seriously wrong.

If the phone light keeps blinking even when your not on the phone it may be a problem with one of your telephones. If you have it wired to your home wires maybe you didnt disconnect from the teleco outside or there is a problem with your wires. You may try to just plug a different telephone into the phone port and see if it keeps blinking. If it does not then you know its a problem with your wires or a telephone that is connected.

There are ways to fix a router problem:

(1)You could get a replacement router

(2)Find out what firmware your router is and ask someone from Vonage if you have the latest firmware and maybe that will fix the routers problems.

(3)Email, or call Vonage and address the issue to them in a nice matter (No ranting, or raving), and they might make a new firmware.
