I have read on here about which lights should be blinking on my Router and when.

I know the internet light on my router is suppose to blink when data is going through it. But it never stops blinking fast and furiously.......

My question is: Is this normal? I'm wondering this because I do still get dropped calls.

Depends on your ISP.

I have my own cable modem, an old BEFCMU10 DOCSIS 1.0 modem. It has been on four cable networks over the last three years (I move a lot). On some, the cable modem is pretty quiet when I'm not using the connection for anything. On others, it blinks like mad whether I'm using it or not. On my current one, the "receive" light blinked from the moment it acquired a connection, and hasn't stopped blinking for an instant since (except when I power cycle it of course).

I think some ISP's are able to filter out traffic detection on the rest of your local node, while some do not. Whatever device is "out front" in my network also gets a lot of internet activity, but my WRTP54G gets hardly any at all now that it's behind my other router/firewall.

It doesn't seem to affect my Internet performance. On a 3000/256 connection I test at between 4.0 and 4.4 on the testyourvoip tests nearly every time.

I agree. My RTP300 also blinks continually, but my service is fine.

To your problem- you have a lot of packet discards. You've probably seen Nate's new articles addressing the problem. Start by plugging your computer directly into your modem and re-running the Voip test. If that doesn't improve things, you probably need to work issues with your ISP. If it does improve things, then take a close look at your adapter.
