Not the electronic kind.

My wife was looking under our stove today because the cats were paying interest to what was under there. I pulled the stove away from the wall and besides the usual dust and other cat toys that had gone there to "die" was a real live mouse.

He made a break for it and the cats chased but my animal loving wife interferred with their persuit ("Not in my house") and it got away.

For now.

I've got 5 cats. Hopefully someone will get this guy. If my wife had her way she probably would adopt the damn thing, Smile

Just a thought here. It is likely that if you have seen a mouse you probably have more than one. They can cause a lot of damage, including chewing through wires and starting fires. Send your wife to the spa and call an exterminator.

Rodents also cause damage to property. They can chew through almost any material including masonry, steel plastic electric cables water pipes etc posing a threat of flooding or fire. Rodents colonise and when one has entered your environment others will be quickly drawn to it. Rats and mice breed quickly producing many hundreds of offspring each year. Quick action will prevent a much larger problem developing.

That page also discusses health problems associated with mice. In California;

Statewide on average, 12 to 15 percent of all deer mice carry the Hanta virus. "We know enough its from deer mice to recommend to people who live in deer mice habitat, who may be exposed to deer mice, treat all mice as if they're positive for Hanta virus," said Ken Townzen, biologist. CNN 1995

In this case I don't think there is more then one mouse. We had some high winds the other day and it blew one of my basement windows open (somehow). We spotted it this morning right after seeing the mouse because that was one of my first questions, how did it get in here?

But I agree, I think calling the exterminator is a good idea.

Well, we caught him. One of my cats sniffed him out behind a book case this morning and I told the exterminator he might be there. Sure enough, there he was. He put down some of those sticky things and kept pushing them under the book case until the mouse's tail got caught on it. Then he just pulled him out.

He inspected the house for any other signs of mice. He is of the opinion that this was the only one but he laid several traps and poison bait just incase.

I've dealt with this exterminator for over a year and a half. He knows his stuff and i trust his judgement.

[B]

I had a pair of white mice before. When the female gives birth, the newly-born always dies. I've had the rodents for pets until I just set them free to roam our farm because the pair were getting old, and never had offsprings that lived after they give birth.
