I am quoting this from a previous 22 page lengthy thread, directing my question towards how to approach my isp about my RTT and Maxpause issues.

You have the upload speed for it, that much is clear and that is what the Voip results are based on.

Your issue is clearly one with your ISP and the quality of your connection, hence the RTT 137 ms and MaxPause 313 ms which is the basis of conversation in a new topic, if you so wish.

I wouldn't even know where to start with my ISP. I am currently residing on a farm, so my broadband options are greatly limited, almost nil. Currently there's an antennae *motorola canopy style* on my rooftop, and the tower I pull internet from is approx, 10 km away via the way the crow flies. If I were familiar with the RTT and Maxpause values, and what they meant, perhaps I could bring the issue to my isp tech support in hopes of it being rectified, if such a thing could be done? All I know is I've been a Vonage customer since June, and using it has become frustrating, for both myself and whomever I'm talking to, and very disappointing. I have always figured it was my ISP, they have claimed to me I have better speeds than most. *shrugs* I don't know how to try to make this work any better.

Please start by running www.testmyvoip.com (pick Boston) and post your detailed results (see the "sticky" threads at the top of the forum for detailed instructions). That will give some more information to diagnose your issues.
