What exactly does that mean? How do you draw a comparison between Vonage and AOL? Please help me to understand your comment, because it seems like a baseless flame to me, and if you can't back it up, then it's about as useless as your post.

After showing my friend my new toy (Wireless Vonage phone) she expressed an interest as she only used her cell phone for calls. She liked the voice mail features and also the great rates to her home in Finland.

I emailed her an invite to join, and as soon as I'd sent it, she logged into her email and we signed her up - I got my free month as did she.

Another added bonus for her is that she now forwards her cell to her new Vonage account when she's home to avoid the radiation from the cell phone.

Will the next Vonage campaign be "Vonage is like training wheels for VoIP?"

Actually, come to think of it, Vonage *IS* the AOL of Voip. They've boxed the whole thing together in an easy experience. They cloak the technical details behind a Veil of Mystery (tm) by locking down their devices.

But, unlike AOL, I don't get busy signals every time I try to connect. (grin)

I'm contnually amazed as to how people seem to think that Vonage is any different than any other Company regarding what are interpreted to be 'hidden policies'. I don't know how many times I hear 'Well, nobody told me that..!??!' Meanwhile, while explaining things (LNP, TOS, etc.) to customers, I get interrupted with the 'OK, thank you, gotta go...' ANY Company has small print. Sometimes it's hard to be sympathetic towards the Ostriches with their heads in the sand.

BTW, Vonage will usually credit for RAF if all the info matches with both parties re. email addresses, signup dates, etc.

Some people may think Vonage is different from any other company but I imagine most people have the same complaints about numerous companies. But here, they are talking about Vonage because this is a Vonage related fourm.

I like Vonage. So far, I could not be happier with the service itself. Having said that, I would not be honest if I did not also mention I was disappointed (for about 2 minutes) with the RAF program. I spent a good bit of time talking Vonage up to my boss, not because I needed a free month or two of service, but because I really liked the technology and knew he would be interested in it as well. The RAF would just be icing on the cake for me. He said he would like to try it so I sent him a referral. Well, he decided to do just like me and buy his equipment at Best Buy that same day at lunch. It was a Vtech 8100-2 system and with all the current rebates, the $150 price tag would be fully rebated between Vonage and Best Buy.

I knew that the RAF would not work if he did this but I would not expect him to order it from Vonage, have to pay $75 for the same equipment, and then have to wait for it. You know how us tech freaks are, when we decide we want it, we want it right then. Smile

Anyway, net result is I went out and recruited a customer for Vonage and was not compensated, at least not monetarily, for it. That's fine, I perefctly understand the Vonage policy. It would be nice if in the future they would modify the policy so that people who do like I did get some reward for bringing in a new customer. In the meantime, I will have my cake, just without the icing. Smile And I will take comfort in knowing that I have helped contribute to the Vonage bottom line which is good for them and good for Vonage's customers.

LOL, so very true. But like AOL they seem to have growing pains that eventually will be corrected. It is amazing the parallels between the companies.
