I am using the Linksys RTP300 with two lines that are connected to a phone system. The quality of outgoing calls is great but the incoming calls have a lot of static on the line. I spoke to several tec's at Vonage and have been told that the engineeers are aware of the problem with the RTP300 and if I answer on the second ring there won't be any static. This is true. However, my phone system automatically picks up on the first ring and I can't reset it.

Does anyone know when the patch will be released for the RTP300? I believe that they have the same issue with the WTRP54G. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks for your help!

I have a WRTP54G, and have the same problem.

I'm not sure what you can do to stop it, if your phone system is autoanswering. At the moment, the router seems to handle the calls very poorly if they are answered before the Caller ID information displays. Like the router REALLY wants to give out caller ID now, and if it isn't allowed to it gets all petulant and has a "hissy" fit. (grin)

I've seen the term "very soon" floating around. Of course, that was also shortly after I was doing my testing after .58 came out, and I work in IT - I know exactly what "very soon" means. It usually refers to "in geological time". Wink

You MAY be able to get someone to load an older firmware release for you, but it'll take some work to keep the thing from reloading the new firmware on you.

Thanks for your response! I was online with Vonage support last nite and they told me the firmware would be released in two days. I hope so.

I have also tried to purchase the Linksys RT31P or the Motorola VT1005 because I'm told that these do'nt have the same problem. Does anyone know if that's true?

I can't locate them in a retail store in Atlanta so I'll have to get one online. I just don't want to have two routers with the same problem and yet I don't want to wait for the patch since it's our business line. Any other ideas?

If the patch is out in 2 days, then chances are there's a beta out there. If you don't mind being a guinea pig, you can try calling Vonage CS and explaining that 2 days would be an eternity to wait for the next release, and ask them if it fixes the "poor connection on answer" issues.

Heck, maybe you'll get a sympathetic rep and they can push you the firmware a little early. Wink

If not, well, I know it's a pain, but one more business day left (assuming you are on US time).

The RTP300 / WRTP54G (same router, just one has wireless and the other doesn't) are excellent Vonage devices. I wouldn't go changing it if you can just hold off for what basically works out to one business day...

Thanks. I think I'll sit tight since you think the 300 is a better router. However, I may try the sympathetic Vonage cs.
