My apologies if this has been answered, I did try a search first.
I have this setup at home:
Cable modem->wrt54g->rtp300 . Laptop plugged into or connected via wireless to wrt54g.
This works fine going straight to the internet, but I have limited success when trying to connect to a VPN provided by my employers. Many times I get stuck with an "opening port" message. After reading a few posts, I thought by having the Vonage router last in line, I could avoid any problems, as I'm pretty sure this trouble started after my switch to Vonage.
The behavior is erratic. This morning I could connect to the VPN fine. A minute ago, no luck so I powered-on/off both routers, with no help. Then I reset the Vonage router and magically I was able to connect. Why would the Vonage router have any say in the matter ? Or does it ? I saw many posts talking about port forwarding so maybe I should take a refresher course, but in the meantime if someone has a suggestion as to how things should work or what settings I should make sure I have, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
