Post subject: credit card/merchant services transactions over VOIP
Has anyone tried or does anyone know if
Vonage
works for a credit card/merchant services transaction device? I'm referring to the device that a business would use to ring up a customer's credit or debit card and the device would dial out to verify that the card is legit.

A 300 baud data call will work with
Vonage
. Up to 14.4k should be fine. Try to find out how fast it's modem is.

Since I posted this message and didn't hear much of a response, I managed to try it out a couple of times using my merchant account (using a Visa card) and it was a no go. The transaction kept failing. The moment I hooked the line back up to an analog line, everything worked fine.
So in my limited testing, the answer is NO,
Vonage
does NOT work with any merchant services device.
