I have had Vonage for about a week and am experiencing dropped calls.i ran the Voip speed test here are my results.

RTT 21 ms

here is my setup motorola cable modem from road runner,ethernet cable plugs in wan on linksys befsr41 ver 2 cable router.from port one the linksys Voip adapter plugs in then back to internet on the back.on the back of the cable router i have one other computer plugged in. given my setup can any one make suggestions on how we can avoid dropped calls.

Your packet losses are very high. Try plugging your computer directly into your cable modem and repeating the test. If the test results don't improve a lot, then you have an issue that you need to work with your internet service provider.

im confused about plugging my computer directly into my cable modem.my internet provider has provided me with a cable modem.the cable from outside plugs in the back then my ethernet cable plugs in the back of the modem then goes to my router marked wan,where am i missing the point.

I'm suggesting that you eliminate your router for test purposes. If you still have poor Voip test results in that configuration, then you know that neither your router nor your Vonage adapter is at fault. Just unplug the ethernet cable from the WAN port of your router and plug it into the ethernet port on your computer.

You still have very high packet loss. That is definately an ISP issue, you should contact them and tell them you are having serious issues with your internet and getting dropped from online games and other internet programs because of packet loss.


Sometimes you can get short periods of these issues and they get resolved due to local hardware / routing issues other times it can be a big problem that never seems to go away.
