PostPosted: Sat Jan 14, 2006 4:49 am    Post subject: *90 transfer feature Reply with quote Back to top

I need to do a warm transfer, (place caller a on hold, hit the flash button, dial the number I am going to transfer caller a to, talk to that person and then transfer caller a to that number). Simular to a 3 way call but once I connect all 3 of us, I can then hang up but those two stay connected. Is there a way to do this with Vonage?

Before ordering the service, I was told yes by 2 sales agent and a tech support agent. However, I was not able to do the transfer this way. I could transfer the call but I could not talk to anyone before the transfer went through.

If anyone understands me and can help I would appreciate it.

I think there was a problem with people spoofing numbers and making prank calls to people. I think they took that feature away because of this. I may be wrong though.

I know you can do a blind transfer, but not sure about a warm transfer. The blind transfer would be:

Initiate call #1, FLASH, #90 + phone number, wait for tone to change then hang up.

Supposedly warm transfer is #91, phone number then # to transfer, but I've not been successful with it (haven't played with it much either 'though)

the manager was not able to get *91 to work either.

But no one ever even knew about *91 until I talk to the manager.
NO reps or tech support offered it has a possiblity.

Training their reps seems to be low on list of things they do over there.

Wow thank you. That is very, very cool. Can you tell me how charges work.

I have a Vonage line and back up line from Verizon. If I transfer it to Verizon, who is paying?

last january when I signed up, #91 was still a listed feature on th website, then sometime in teh spring it was taken off the site, but it stil worked.. I dont' ever use it, but I had tried it back then and it did work..
it was discussed here months ago that it had been taken away as a feature for reasons listed above..

I just tried #91 and it worked for me. i have 2 cell's and my Vonage, i called my Vonage from my bell cell and answered, then hit FLASH, #91, 519 ### #### and then my rogers cell rang with my Vonage CID, I answered it, talked to myself LMFAO!, and then hit FLASH on Vonage, now my 2 cell's were talking to each other..

so it still works on Vonage Canada, should still work on US too..

The way mine works is I have to be on the phone, flash over and press #91 + the number + # then the person answers and I tell them who it is, after I tell them who it is, I hang up the phone, but it doesn't immediatly connect them, what it does is it calls them again from the persons number and when they pick up the person is there. So I have to make sure I tell the person I'm tranferring them to to hang up the phone so they can be ready for the transferred call.

Hope this helps.

when i tried it yesterday, I called from Bell to Vonage, then on Vonage phone, hit FLASH, then #91 then 10 digit number and waited, it took a few seconds, then it started to ring, then my Rogers cell started to ring with my Vonage CID, so I answered Rogers, was talking b/t rogers and Vonage, then I hit FLASh again and it took a few secs but then my bell and rogers were connected and Vonage was back to a dial tone so I hung it up completely and the cell's were still connected together..

with 3 phones in my hands, I couldnt' have them all to my ear, so I'm not sure if Bell Cell was ringing out as the Rogers phone was accepting the new call.. I had the rogers phone to my ear, it went click and then it was just there, it never had to ring, cuz it was already connected to my Vonage line at the time.. at first it sounded like it was about to hang up, but it did work..

I remember reading on here, that in some cases, the 3rd phone will actually accept the forwarded part of the call as a Call Waiting, so you'll be on with the Vonage phone, when Vonage person hangs up, your phone would do a call waiting beep and you'd have to flash over to the second line.. but this wasn't the case for me, but this is probably the 2nd time I've ever used it, lol.. I'm on the 500 min plan, so if somone calls for someone who's out, we just tell them to call the cell directly.. and if my wife's out, she doesn't want calls from her mom down in SC to be forwarded, she'll just call her back when she's home..

#91 not working here *Canada*, well it does but not like anyone wants it to.
I used my Vonage line to call my home line
answered the home line
then on Vonage did the flash #91- and dialed my cell #
answered my cell phone
I then hit flash again on my Vonage line
and all three phones could talk
I hang up my Vonage line, all three phones dropped the call.

So it's just like a 3 way call... but whoever initiated it hangs up, and bang that's the end of it for everyone.
