I'm looking at the NetGear Super G router as well. But I've seen some very troubling NetGear threads in my searches of this forum. Anyone offer any advice on whether we should be staying away from the NetGear Super G router for now?
What about the D-Link DI-624? This gets a better review in a recent PC Mag comparison than the NetGear? Will it play nice with my Motorola VT1005 box?
Thanks all. This forum has been a real lifesaver!

I have found that Routers are the cause of many problems. The feedback is all over the map on this forum. I would recomend that you purchase your router at store with a return policy. if it does not work take it back and try again. I would also like to switch to a wireless router but have not done so yet.
Also I would put the ATA behind the router. I think the majority of the people have it there. There are some that have it in front but it did not work for me. You will just need to ensure that the ports are open to get a constant connection that the ATA needs.
Good luck with it and post your findings back to the board. |

I would recommend that you don't go with the Netgear WGR614 if you plan to have the MTA behind it. I've currently got the 614 and I've worked with Vonage and Netgear over the past couple of months with no success on keeping the MTA alive behind the router. I'm actually going to go buy a wired router this weekend and convert my Netgear to an access point.

I use Broadguard they have a SPI filewall and ship data all day long without any funky setup. The router is not supposed to know what the data is. |

I have an antique Linksys BEFWS4 (v1), and it works perfectly with my ATA behind it, I didn't even have to open up any ports. Wireless is great as well. I can only imagine the new ones are even better. |
