I used to have problems with my RT31P2 just as you describe. I learned (somewhere on this forum) that most of the problems that people have been having with that router are temperature related. At the time, I had mine on a desk top, next to a lamp with some SGC2C figures on it (OK, so I'm a little goofy). Anyway, what with the heat from the lamp and having the vent holes partially blocked, I thought that I might be experiencing some overheating. So, I moved the router to a shelf near the (cooler) floor and have it standing alone: nothing on top of it, nothing but cool, hard shelf below it. It has been flawless ever since. It's the first thing connected to my internet connection, and it feeds an AirPort Extreme and an Asanté 16-port hub. Heavy downloads will disrupt phone service, but other than that, no problems at all. |
