I have been wondering about the 911 service since I signed up last month. I have not decided if I am going to test it by making at 911 test call or not.
I did call 933 this evening. I get a message saying (paraphasing) "911 calling is enabled for this number. 911 calls are routed to an emergency call center as described in the features section of our website."
What good is that?! It did not tell me anything. The message should tell me where the call is going to go, or the website should tell me where the calls are going to go. Vonage has to fix this before I will have any confidence in calling 911 using Vonage.

Do it. You owe it to yourself to know what you have available to you in a real emergency.
But FIRST, please do call your local police department and explain to them what you want to do, and ask how they prefer to handle it. Chances are, they will refer you to a non-emergency number in their dispatch office, and you can arrange a test call on an as-available basis.

Like NateHoy said, call your local police department and just explain to them that you would like to make a test of your Voip E911 service and chances are they will be more than happy to help you. I am glad I did because like I said in the original post, they had the wrong name and address listed for my phone number.
