When I first started with Vonage a few weeks ago, there was no real echo problem. Shortly after, a strong echo of my voice activity started, but the echo was only heard by me. Suddenly, the echo is completely gone.

I'm using a new 5.8 GHz Uniden cordless system, and I had set the handset volumes down low, to minimize the echo. But yesterday, I noticed that it is suddenly gone. So I'll restore the handset volume settings

Does anyone know why the echo has now cleared up??

Couple ways that I can think of: use the search (it's on the left-hand side of the forum) and search by author for your user ID. Or find a post that you made and click on the number of posts under your avatar.

I looked many times, but I always missed the "Search" item in the list.

I too had a terrible echo for about 3 days. I changed nothing other than using my cell phone for calls because it was so loud it was annoying. Yesterday I used my Vonage again and it was gone and connections were clear as glass. I think they must be involved in some equipment changes or upgrades.

try this when your getting echo:

get a DOS command prompt and then type:

tracert sip.vonage.net

You will probably get a bunch of timeouts but the ones that do trace should all be lower than 250ms. If your getting higher then it's an internet problem. My guess is that the latency in your internet connection is high due to high use which results in echo. I doubt it's Vonage's fault.

Same here. No more echos lately either. Gee, if someone else in the country had echo and now all of a sudden doesn't and now I'm experiencing the same thing (no more echo)......I don't think it was an Internet or ISP issue.......but maybe VONAGE???!!! No, couldn't be Vonage, there stuff always works and perfectly at that! Yeah right!

LOL!

Yeah, couldn't imagine two people in different parts of the country experiencing high internet usage in their area at the same time. That is just TOO coincidental! LOL! People's logic never fails to amaze me.
