I've had Vonage as my primary number since October of '05, but I've used the service since October of '04. I've started having frequent, intermittent troubles with every part of the service and was wondering if another phone adapter would fix these. Usually rebooting the RT31P2 will make it more reliable for a few days. It looks like I can get a PAP2 for $35 after rebate at Circuit City. Would this be a good choice?
-Many times incoming callers can't hear me. They hearing ringing until I answer, then silence, but I can hear them. (Mainly cellphones) -Caller ID gives number only, on callers that usually have a name. -Voicemail doesn't give message waiting indicator or stutter-tone, but I get a text message that I've got a voicemail. -Outgoing calls give a fast busy, but go through on next try. -Three-Way Calling doesn't connect all parties using #92
I'm interested in any ideas that might help. Thanks in advance.

The RT31P2 could be bad, but you have very high packet discards. You might want to try eliminating everything except your computer plugged into the modem and re-running the test. If the test results improve dramatically, then the router may very well be the problem. If not, then you may have an ISP problem.
If you decide on a replacement, keep in mind that the RT31P2 is a router and the PAP2 is not. You'll need a router to use the PAP2. |
