Hey All,
I recently moved and signed into vonage.com to change my address. After I changed my address, I get an email from vonage that says my address could not be verified.
So I call vonage help (what a waste of life that place is) and get some girl who can barely speak even broken english that couldnt grasp what I was trying to tell her. For some reason she thought I was just trying to turn on the service.. after telling her repeatedly that Ive had it set up for months, but just wanted to update my address, she finally had to sign on herself to see that it was already active and i needed to update my location. After I tell her thats what im trying to do but I get an email from vonage saying it doesnt like my address, she says that I need to change my billing address to match my location address or it wont work.
Ive have had 2 seperate addresses listed since inception of this service without issue. I told her this and she continued to just read from the screen or whatever they do. I finally said OK, bye.
So what shall I do? I have a 3 y/o kid at home and really do not want to go without 911 service. Its just my luck ya know??
Any thoughts? |

Run your address through Mapquest and re-enter the 911 address as Mapquest formats it. Vonage uses a computer to automaticlly map the address to verify that it is valid. Since it is done by a computer, you've got to give it the address in the format it was expecting. If it fails a second time, Vonage will then map it manually.
If your address is a relatively new development (newer than say, 5 years) there's a good probablly that its not in the address database yet. |

Its an old neighborhood for sure... atleast mid 70's... and I entered the address as google maps liked it... 99 East Vonage Drive, Anywhere, Anystate, 12345
Seems normal to me? Im going to try to get a better CS rep on the phone today... but in dealing with the fantastic citizens of India that they employ for CS, I dont think im going to get very far. |

I think that the problem, based on other posts, is the use of Drive versus DR
This has been mentioned previously vonage-forum.com/ftopic7939.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="postlink">911 setup will not accept my address
I would suggest using the post office's web site to normalize your address.
For example Vonage's address from their website is:
| Quote: |
| 23 Main Street, Holmdel, NJ 07733 |
And the post office normalizes it to:
| Quote: |
23 MAIN ST
HOLMDEL NJ 07733-2136 |

2 issues now present...
First, when using that USPS site to normalize my address, it actually makes it worse... It changes it from 99 East Vonage Drive to 99 Vonage Drive East... which you cannot type in at all on vonages form...
Second... Now I am unable to even get into where you edit the address. I click Edit 911 Dialing Address, and I get an error message saying "WE WERE UNABLE TO PROCESS YOUR REQUEST FOR 911 DIALING: YOU CANNOT DIAL 911. Please contact Vonage customer care to resolve the problem. "
BAH... Im glad I have a cell phone.. |
