Hey all. I have a problem with my voicemail that customer server can't see to figure out, provided I can even get through to customer support.
When I dial the local access number that was provided for me from Vonage I am asked to put in my phone number and hit the pound key. I do and I get a recording that says, "The mailbox number you have entered is invalid, please enter your mailbox number followed by the pound key." I've tried enter area code and then number and just the number and since the exchange is the same as my exchange I've tried just the last 4 digits. None of them work. I did happen to see someone post one here that you could call your own phone number and enter either the pound or the star key. That didn't work either. I've also tried calling the voicemail numbers for other areas thinking that they could all get me to the same voicemail system. No luck. Any other suggestions? |

You have to dial your phone number, but you have to include a "1" in front of it. Took me a few days to figure that one out. |

**Duh!!** Bart!!
Geez. I can not believe it was that easy.
I've had my vonage account for almost a year now and never figured that out. Interesting. Wonder why the customer support people on the phone couldn't have told me that? |

I only learned it myself on the forums here. But I later realized it was right in Vonage's online help:
# Dial Vonage voicemail access number
# Enter 11-digit phone number (1 + area code + seven-digit phone number) followed by the pound (#) key
# Enter PIN
So either not many people use it, or most people are smarter than you and me and read the manuals better. I'm not going to try and find out which. I'm afraid of the answer.
Don't feel bad. I recently asked for a feature called "camp on" or "busy number monitoring" where a busy line could be monitored and my phone could ring once the line freed up, blissfully unaware that the feature was ALREADY THERE. (grin) Haven't tested the feature out yet, so I don't know if it works, but it's supposedly there. |

I just signed up for Vonage in Canada, and was testing it out last night, I can use 7 digits, and when my voicemail recording comes on, I just press *, enter my password and it tells me if I have messages or not... |

What I find interesting is that you would have to dial the 1. As far as I can tell, you don't have to dial a 1 when calling long distance using your Vonage phone. |
