You might just end up with United Flight 657 in your living room.

I was wondering why there is a guy on my front lawn with two orange sticks waving jets into my driveway...

Ummmm... yeah. Microsoldering on a device that's under warranty, where the existing resistors are probably part of a circuit board...

I can just see the Customer Service call now..

Vonage: "Vonage helpdesk. How can I help you today?"
Me: "Yeah. I kinda, you know, was soldering bigger resistors on the lights on my WRTP54G, and it, sorta, like, well, doesn't work any more... I'm sure it had nothing to do with me ripping off the case and applying large amounts of heat and conductive metal to delicate components. Can I get a free replacement?"
Vonage: "Sure. There will be a teensy delay while hell freezes over. Let me transfer you to the appropriate department. Please hold. (disconnect click)"

My current solution (folded strip of paper taped over lights) cost me 1 strip of scrap paper, and about 1 inch of Scotch Brand Clear Tape. Total cost was well under a penny, all told. Solution implementation time was about 15 seconds. My chances of letting the smoke out of the router: very near zero.

If it's still too bright, add more paper. Wink

No, not likely. Blue lights indicate the edges of a taxiway. Now, if Flight 657 happened to land on your street because of some large votive display along road or something, then he might taxi into your driveway.

What would probably happen, though, is every time you got a call, a bunch of people who went to K-Mart before they went out of business would assume that you were holding a "blue light special" when they saw the blinking blue light, and you'd be flocked by 80-year-old ladies insisting that you give them the price for your lawn furniture set, then wanting to pay in pennies.

Come to think of it, the plane would probably be a better problem to have. Wink

For the love of all that is decent and just, STOP! You're going to inspire Dan to post a picture of himself in a skirt, holding pom-poms, and that's just not good for anyone. Eek Eek Eek

Excuse me while I preemptively gouge my eyes out with a dull pen just to make sure there is zero chance of ever seeing that. Wink
