Before I cancel my subscription and get my money back, I'm giving my last shot here. After many calls to tech support, I gave up.
Anyone successfully getting a dial tone with Motorola VT2442, please speak up and share how you are getting connected. I tried everything with no sucess.
Current Equip: Westell DSL modem (Verizon) connected to NetGear FVS318.
Tried connecting directly to Westell DSL modem. That also didn't work. The tech support indicated that the power lite should stay steady green. Mine flickers, as well as the internet lite. |

Yes.
My NetGear router also has that in it. Otherwise, I would not be able to access the internet. |

Call in to technical support. The Motorola might not be provisioned properly on your account. |

I've done that and wasted enough of my time. I've canceled the service with Vonage because Vonage cannot get me a replacement unit because they don't carry it directly (VT2442 is a retail product that Vonage itself does not carry according to their service/accounting department). |

Still no feedback from anyone who successfully used this product. Amazing. Not even from t3 support. |

Yeah I was gonna ask where you got that device, they aren't so prevalent as of yet... |

Just got it at the Consumer Electronic Show 2006 (Las Vegas). The unit was free for signing up the service. |

But you shouldn't have to do that with the adapter behind the Netgear. The Netgear should be doing the connection to the ISP and acting as a DHCP service for your subnet. The adapter should be set up for automatic addressing.
When you hook the adapter directly to the modem, that's a different story. |

That's correct. The Wan port of VT2442 is configured to the DHCP when connecting to the NetGear and the Lan port's DHCP Server in VT2442 is disabled.
Incidentially, VT2442 does not hold setting when powered off and on. My setting disappears everytime it is powered off and on. And interestingly enough, the unit does not set to the factory default even if maually done (either soft or via hardware) - particularly the DHCP setting (defaults to static address (if you set it that is) instead of DHCP). This unit just acts weird. That's why I think there's fault with this unit. Also, the box did not come with any bar code. SN., MAC address. It may have been shipped rushed without testing.
Also, the unit won't allow me to manually set the IP address of the unit. |
