ok, here's my current setup:
Motorola SB4100 cable modem -> USR 8054 wireless router -> 2PCs, xbox, RTP300
RTP300 -> print server module
now, the dilemma. I hung the RTP300 off of my USR router and Vonage seems to be working fine ... only problem is ... any computer (or print server) on the RTP300 cannot get to the internet or any computer on the USR router and vice versa.
I have tried turning off the NAT and DHCP on the RTP300.
any suggestions? |

Try turning the DHCP server on the RTP300 ON and set the print server to acquire it's address from a DHCP server. Also, make sure that the internal network of the USR router and the internal network of the RTP300 are using different subnets. This means if the internal network of the USR is using 192.168.1.x then the internal network on the RTP300 should use something else like 192.168.2.x. |

Do a search through the forum for setting up the RTP300 in bridge mode. Basically, you turn NAT and DHCP off (as you have), and connect the RTP to your USR using a LAN port instead of the internet port (WAN). Then run a cable from another RTP LAN port to the RTP's WAN port (I know, sounds weird). That leave you with 2 LAN ports on the RTP for the printer and one computer. |

thanks ... that worked.
I ran an ethernet cable from my USR router to one of the 4 ports on the RTP300, turned off the NAT and DHCP in the RTP300, and then ran another cable from one of the RTP300's ports from itself into its internet/WAN port.
This allowed all computers/printers on the RTP300 to get their IP from the USR router as well as be able to see computers on the other router and vice versa.
I've only had one phone call so far, but quality seems fine. Now my only test is to see if it blows up when playing Halo2 (since that's the whole reason for me switching the routers around). |
