I have cleared up my problem with dropped calls until i had a tripped circut breaker, cut the power off to all my computer equipment including my router. Now I'm getting dropped calls again. Any suggestions if the power outage messed up my router? |

Did you power back up by just resetting the breaker? If so, you should power the equipment down and re-power in the correct order- typically modem, wait, router, wait, adapter, PC. |

Our power goes out here on a regular basis. So do what I did, get a UPS.
My ups, is a APC 1400VA rackmount, and it ONLY provides about 58 watts just for my cable modem, webserver, router, and Vonage router. RUns about 4 hours.
If you are just interested in surge protection and such, a smaller UPS may fill the bill like a smartups 500VA |

And most importantly, DO NOT EVER power up equipment by hitting the breaker, especially networking equipment. The potential for creating a nice blue paperweight is too great. ALWAYS unplug your networking stuff, computers during a power outage and wait for the power to come back on. If you have UPS, no problem. |

Very helpful responses, I was powering back up using the breaker with all my networking equiptment plugged in. Won't be doing that in the future. And I will purchase a UPS. Thanks for all this helpful info. |
