There are articles all over stating that Vonage has rolled out E911 for the whole nation.
But, this is clearly not true.
Where the heck can we get information if our line is truly E911 or not?
Calling customer "service" is a joke.
VONAGE, ARE YOU LISTENING? |

where are those articles? post links. nothing from vonage says that, so you can't blame them for writers misinformation.

Call 911 and find out who you get. When I dialed 911 I got our city's emergency number not 911. They told me that calls to that number are answered after 911 calls. |

or dial 933 and it should tell you the same thing. mine recently changed to "your number will be answered by a call center" or something like that. |

I see what you mean and agree it's bad, but if one keeps reading about 10 more words they would see the whole story. |

I don't think for a second it was not aimed to read just like I said, misleading and dishonest.
One should not have to read the whole article to find out the leading information is not true.
How's this:
| Quote: |
For Sale : A brand new Porsche 911 Turbo for $1500
This thing runs like a champ, and has no problems whatsoever.
Actually, it's not new, it has 125000 miles on it, and I'm selling it for $18000. Oh, and by the way, it has an oil leak, and needs new tires.
|
It's just frustrating there's not a simple status in our accout page that tells us if E911 is there or not.
Also, there should be an easy link on the signup page when the phone number is entered, it will let you know immediately if you have E911 in your area or not. |

What? Stop being lazy. Reading doesn't take that much energy. |

mdwheaton, don't think you are in the minority. A lot of us old timers were disappointed by the obviously misleading release. Please see the extensive thread vonage-forum.com/ftopic9946.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="postlink">Vonage's 911 Announcement.
The basic message here was intended for the FCC. Vonage is ready for E911 on every line. It is the ILECs in control of the PSAPs that aren't cooperating with VoIP carriers to get E911 in place. And why would they (the ILECs) when the VoIP carriers are being told they can't sign up new customers who can't get access to E911. |
