I call China a bunch during the month. I use a calling card-BigZoo.
Q-Can I still use this service or some other calling card? That is through Vonage.

Yes, just dial the access number as usual.

Check out BigZoo calling card. I call China and this card/operation is the best I have ever seen. It is also very good here in the USA. Ability to set up easy codes for various people to call.

Vonage has great international rates! Calling Beijing would just be 5 cents a minute. Other parts of China would just be like 13 cents a minute. so why bother with a calling card?

For cell phones and NGN numbers in UK and W Europe I use 10-10-987 for 39 c connection fee plus 3 cents a minute but with Vonage I can not use 10-10-987. Any suggestions

Many of those 10-10's are operated by your favorite long distance companies such as AT+T and MCI. They are simply an alternative to permanently switching your ld provider to make an ld call.

Hence, from a landline, dial : 10-10-987 then 0
You will get the operator for that long distance company. Ask them if you can possibly get a calling card.

I take it you've figured out the economics of the 39 cent connection fee? Which would cost you really 6 cents a minute for the first 13 minutes. I don't know how long you talk for but if you can't connect with a live person or the person you want to talk to asks if they can call you back, you might be paying more . But I don't know what those rates are with Vonage.

10-10-987 is excellent for calling cellular phones in West Europe. For example to call UK cellular number in UK Vonage charges 23 cents/min and to Switzerland cel 34 cents/min. 10-10-987 is good for these kind of calls if the duration of call is not just one minute.
