All,
I have viewed that there is a new firmware version for the PAP2 of 3.1.8. Has anyone else heard about this? If so, does anyone have a changelog? I currently have 3.1.6, and I am hoping to get an upgrade because I get the echo and one-way/choppy audio intermittenly. |

To check the firmware, you pickup the phone and dial **** and then dial 150# when it asks you for the option number. I don't think you can access the web page without unlocking the PAP2. I personally don't want to do that. I called Vonage and according to the guy I spoke with, 3.1.6 is the most current firmware they have at this time. He told me that once they receive a new firmware from linksys, it has to go through testing for a few weeks before it is released to subs. He seemed very knowledgable so I trust that he knew what he was talking about. He even checked to see if they had any new version in development and he said they didn't. |

I think the firmware for the PAP2 is loosely correlated to the Sipura devices:

That might give you some hints as to what has changed, assuming that a 3.1.8 does exist for the PAP2 in the first place. |

I wouldn't be surprised if there were some way of putting Sipura firmware onto a PAP2, but if that were possible, it would probably prevent it from working with Vonage. |

To an extent, it already exists, or at least could, for some of the devices. The WRTP54G and RTP300, for example, are Linux-based routers using a TI chipset that run custom firmware written for Linksys/Vonage by a third party (CyberTAN). In theory, if you could get the source code, you could rewrite some of the code and unlock them. As it stands, you can buy "unlocked" WRTP54G's that support standard SIP protocols.
But at that point they won't work with Vonage any more, of course, and probably never could again, since they can't communcate with the Vonage Mother Ship any more (unless you reloaded stock firmware). Vonage would NEVER want to speak with that unit again if you did it, and I wouldn't blame them one little bit. |

Just checked and mine says the same thing. They must have pushed an update out within the last couple of days. |
