Today I received a call from my wife and while she was talking there was this annoying low-level "white noise" sound in the background. It was like it was a noisy line. In the past it's always been very clear. Her end (my voice) was crystal clear to her. Has anyone else noticed this and if so, what was your fix-action? Thanks.

Hmmm...

my ex used to sound like white noise to me all the time, a constant, low grade annoying background noise... it gets easy to tune out after a while LOL

Did this problem occur ever again? a lot of possibiles for this one

If the noise was only present on your end, is it possible that it was your phone? Low on batteries or something?

Definitely not low batteries, however, I was wondering if it could be related with the 1.00.58 firmware. Everything with the latest release seems to very good and very solid, however, for some reason some calls sometimes don't seem as clear as others.

Has anyone else experienced this low-level noise in the background? I can't be the only one.....or CAN I????

ColdGin, is there anything the engineers can do to monitor a TA for quality of service? I don't mean QOS in the technical sense, but rather how well it's passing the voice packets?

Yes, same problem here with the RPT300. I have read others having the same problem. There is a problem with the rtp300 and static.

For me, it happens on about 1 in 5 calls, starting on day one that I got my new rtp300.

It is not random static, it is a constant level background "white noise" on the call that does not fluctuate or go away.

Hanging up and redialing usually does not fix the problem for me. I just have to talk over the noise.

I am having similar issues with the WRTP54G. However, even more often on an incoming call we cannot hear the caller at all. (Previously the incoming audio was taking a couple of seconds to "turn on", according to our callers).

Today I called my wife at home and she could hear me the first time. I tried again and this time got the staticy/white noise problem.

Any insight into what is happening here? Is it in my equipment or at the Vonage end?

I could put the device on debug, this may show something interesting, it may show nothing at all though.also can try moving your line to the other phone port and see if the phone port went bad.

It is doubtful he has a bad port, as a whole bunch of people are having the same symptoms since they got RTP300's.

I'm curious, how do you get into that area of the setup if it is protected by a password?
