Hello,

I just received the MTA, configured all of the ports on my 2003 sbs ISA server(2000). The box goes thru the init, and I get a dial tone. Problem is, I can dial out, but I cannot hear anything, nor can the receiving phone.

I initially configured the udp ports manually, experienced the audio problems. changed the config to point ALL udp traffic at the MTA. I even located a ISA config script on this site. Nothing seems to work. I've rebooted my isa server & the mta multiple times.

Do I have a bad MTA?

Thanks,

Tracy

Note:

I have comcast, the ISA server is directly connected to the modem.

For some reason, the MTA will not even obtain an IP when connected directly to the modem.

Ok.

I was able to get the firmware updated on my mta, it works purely off of the cablemodem directly now (but prone to lockups, etc)

I have it working partially on the ISA box.

When I place a call from the MTA, neither party can hear anything.
WHen I call the MTA, I can hear everything, but the other party cannot hear anything,

Ok... here's whats happening.

When I place a call from the MTA on the ISA server, I can hear the other party, but they cannot hear me. When a call is received by the MTA, nobody can hear anything.

Getting Vonage (motorola MTA) to work with ISA 2000

First I used smarisetty's script to open the following ports.

' UDP In: {69,53,5060,5061,5062,5063, RTP:10000,11600}
' UDP Out: {69,53,5060,5061,5062,5063, RTP:10000,11600}

These ports only allowed the phone to ring and display caller id.

What I did:

The MTA's web admin program said that it needed ports 10000-10011 opened. I opened those (both ways) and published the ports. That gave me audio in one direction only (incoming on the mta) I then monitored the ports that it tried to use (making and receiving calls) It also used - 17369, 15326, 16765
15362, 10143. It uses the different ports depending on whether it was an incoming or outgoing call.

I am not sure if this will work for anyone else. I think the ports needed are dynamic, based on the MTA device. I am just happy to say it works.

Greetings,

Using Microsoft Small Business Server with Vonage as follows:

Internet <> ISP <> ADSL Modem <> 4 Port Switch <> Router-A <> MTA WAN Port <> Analog Port to Seimens Gigaset 2420 Phone with 8 Wireless Handsets.

Router-A <> NIC 2 in SBS Server 4.5 <> NIC 1 on SBS to 8 Port Switch. <> LAN - A Workstations

From 4 Port Switch (above) to Router-B <> NIC 2 in SBS 2K3 <> NIC 1 in SBS2K3 <> 8 Port Switch <> LAN - B Workstations.

No configuration needed for Proxy Service in SBS 4.5 or ISA in SBS2K3
Just needed to configure Router-A for port passthrough of required services to access Vonage for MTA.

Regards,
