I took new Vonage connection. Since the day the router RTP 300 has come it is not working. When I unplug everything and plug it back, phone will work for 1 min and then for rest of the day it wont...im thinking of discontinuining the service...

I have Road Runner for internet with Toshiba 2600 cable modem.

I heard so positive about Vonage but i am having hard time with the same.

Can somebody help me out?

That Toshiba 2600 is not a roadrunner Voip modem is it? Does it have any phone ports on it? I have heard that those do not work with Vonage. You may need to call RoadRunner tech support and see if you could swap your modem out for a Motorola SB5100 or something. Im currently using that modem and it works great.

Also you have it hooked up like the following?

CABLE OUTLET--->CABLEMODEM--->RTP300--->COMPUTERS

Or do you have some sorta special setup?

Just looked. I guess thats a regular cablemodem without Voip. Maybe you should post some http://www.testyourvoip.com results for us.

Lol Call the 800 number. Tell them you need to speak to a technician regarding your newly installed Linksys 300 phone adapter. I had to have a firmware upgrade sent to the phone adapter. This was when I switched to Vonage 2 1/2 mos ago. I also subscribe to Road Runner and I think I have the same cable modem. Hope this helps. I love paying less for my phone bills though!!!

Kevin,

I have a Toshiba PCX2600 and its a cable modem only. It doesnt have any phone ports on it.

I am hocked up the way you have mentioned. I tested my score to Boston and got Your score: 3.9

The Linksys rtp300 came from Vonage and that has 2 phone ports where my phone is connected on Line 1.

Thanks...

I had the same problem on Monday after installing a new Belkin wireless router. The problem seems to be that both routers have conflict with your ISP DNS server address. What fixed my problem was to.

1.Plug your modem directly into your computer and then use this path on Windows (if this your OS).start--->run--->them type in cmd.

2.This should take you to the Windows exe.screen then type "ipconfig/all" which will give a primary and secondary DNS server address. write them down.

3. Go to your routers setup screen and put the server address under you DNS tab and save your settings.

4.Hook everything back up and restart your setup and your computer.

This should solve your problems.
