Post subject: the difference
I do not doubt that you have had an awful experience with
Vonage
, but I have had a quite different exeperience. I have had few problems with
Vonage
. It DID take some arguing and loads of calls for them to switch my virtual and main numbers for me, and I did have some problems with phone aulity in the beginning, but for the most part, service has been great. The first tier customer support sometimes is polite and ignorant, but, usually, they transfer me to the second tier customer support, and I get things fixed. I did have a friend who had
Vonage
, and all her calls to me sounded choppy. She moved to another state, and hooked up her
Vonage
, and then everything sounded wonderful. I wonder if your poor quality of service might be due to some interplay with your service provider for internet. Although I sympathize with yoru frustration, it is not the norm.

A larger percentage of users than you see at these forums NEVER have an issue, and it's very shortsighted to go on this forum alone as your barometer. You can at least try the trial period, and see what happens. I think the money you'll save if you don't have any issues will be well worth it.

I purchased mine at Circuit City and I have had no problems. I think more problems seem to occure with people who purchase the device from
Vonage
and try to hook up their home phone, but even then I believe what you see is a small sample of what happens.
You have 30 days, try it before you return it.

Your first months bill is printable off the internet once you set up your account.
Seems like you've already made up your mind. Good luck.

Post subject: silent voicemail
The silent voice mail issue is one of the main reasons I would leave
Vonage
. However, doing a google search I found that it appears the bug is that if your Network Availability Number is set to one of the same numbers as your simul ring numbers, it causes random silent voice mails.
I was having the silent voice mail problem along with many other problems and I made a bunch of changes including removing my Network Availability Number and since then I have not had any problems.
A customer that I set
Vonage
up for has been having silent voice mail problems through today. I just removed his Network Availability Number and will now see if that infact is the root of the problem or if it was just wrong suggestion I found via the web search.
