Okay, my review is that both the
Vonage
service & the customer service is poor. They really step up their customer service a notch when you're about to cancel (by offering you a free month of service), but I'm still receiving blank voicemails. As I mentioned in another thread, they call these voicemails "dead air voicemails" -- they happen so often that
Vonage
actually has a term for these messages! Anyways, I just received 2 more "dead air voicemails" this morning from anonymous calls, so I don't even have any idea of who called me. Regardless if a million people are enjoying their
Vonage
service, it is hurting my business immeasurably to not receive voicemails! This is totally unacceptable.

I will agree about customer service not being what I would like it to be. And your certainly entitled to your opinion to express your experiences.

Weren't you going to cancel your service anyway, like 2 or 3 weeks ago?

Guilty as charged! Please don't chastise me! I didn't mean it!
I hope you are able to resolve this and stick it out with
Vonage
.
Have you tried rebooting your router? (just kidding!)

1. Approximately 20% of all voicemails that I receive are completely BLANK, even though the caller has actually left a complete message for me. There's simply no other way for me to explain this, except that when I call in to check my messages, 20% of them are simply blank.
Vonage
even has an option to email you the voicemails that you receive -- and they come in as blank audio attachments. The audio files will actually be the length of the caller's message, but there is no sound.
Scott
Scott,
Try saving the voicemail file and play using sound recorder.

Post subject: Why I am also leaving Vonage
Let me preface this by saying that I have had
Vonage
for about 2 years for my personal phone and over 1 year for my business. I did not port my home phone when I got
Vonage
. The nightmare began, when I tried to port my business number to
Vonage
over a year ago. I sent in all of the paper work, I sent in my Verizon bill that was completely paid up, and waited. And waited. A couple of weeks go by, and I discover that I can call OUT on my business phone, but nobody can call IN. I call Verizon, they blame
Vonage
, I call
Vonage
, they blame Verizon. This went on for 3 months, until I called the Call 4 Action people at our local news. Finally that got fixed...but not before it ruined our business. We tried to get it back up and running for this last year, but, alas, it's dead. So we are closing. Unfortunately, my nightmare does not end there. We called to have our business phone disconnected. We were told the ever so popular, "I can't cancel your account, I just answer the phones, the people you need to speak to are "backlogged" and will call you back within 24 to 48 hours. That was 3 weeks ago. We called again the following week, and got the same deal. Still no call back. We called again last week, and this time we told them that since they were being so cooperative with the cancelation of the business number, we'd like to cancel our personal number as well. Still no call back. So someone please tell me, how the heck do you cancel accounts with these people??? I already reported them to the BBB, for all the good it will do us. I don't think that we should have to continue to pay for service that we have been trying to cancel for almost a month. You know, I'm not an unreasonable person. However, when you are so busy you have to call someone back, that's one thing....when you just don't call them back at all, that's something entirely different. I can't believe that they are SO BUSY that someone can't take the time to call me back and help me cancel my accounts. I don't even know why I need to talk to someone to cancel, all I should have to do is say cancel it and they just should take my information and do it. I am at my wits end, does anyone have any suggestions?

Be grateful, I had to search for that. Hope it helps.

I heard of also screwing your credit card settings, will have you first enter grace, then suspend, then terminated status.
