Post subject: Linksys RTP300 voicemail light won't go out
I have been a
vonage
user for almost a year now, and never had any real issues until my old Linksys RT31P2 decided to just die on me. No big deal, a new RTP300 unit was received within an impressive 2 days. The problems began after switching to this new unit.
I received a voicemail the other day and after totally deleting it everywhere (on the phone, and through my
vonage
user page) I still get the staccato dialtone for the first few seconds, and the light on the RTP300 continues to blink incessantly.
I never, ever had this problem until I got the new unit (Firmware 1.00.58 ). Anyone have any ideas? This is by no means critical, but it is super annoying.

I have had this problem off and on since .58 was released. After clearing up for about 10 days, it reappeared yesterday.
Vonage
support said it's a software problem on their end. They hope to have it resolved this week. To fix my problem, they moved my account to another server, but it's not clear whether the problem will return once we receive another voicemail.

try this:
1) call yourself from another line and leave a voicemail message
2) dial "*123" to check voicemail from your
vonage
line
3) listen to the message, delete it (press "3"). repeat for all messages.
4) once all messages are deleted, don't just hang up, press "*" to end the call, and then hang up.
i had this problem for a few weeks, and i tried to get in and delete the messages (both from within the dashboard, when it was up, and also from the phone), and it never helped. i called in to the customer service to complain, after it went on for weeks, and the last guy i talked to suggested pressing "#" at the end (which is evidentally not a real option, so it errors on it, but "*" is the option to complete the call and disconnect, so i tried that). after i repeated the same steps i've done before (calling myself, leaving message, deleting...) i added the last step of dialing a "*" and ever since my voicemail indicator isn't on in error. it's been a few days now, and it seems my voicemail is working as it should.
no guarantees it'll work, but for some reason mine started to work... knock on wood.

Yeah, I always use "*" to hang up the call rather than just the receiver. Still caused a problem in this case, though I will try your advice to "reset" the voicemail indicator. Thanks, blutarsky.

Dear RBes,
Have you considered that this incessantly blinking line is due to your RTP300 is failing to synchronize or properly connect with
Vonage
server
Some days I get this problem when my internet service is poor because of limited bandwidth or server jam, and without having any voicemail messages in my Inbox. However, the phone adapter stops blinking once the internet service returns to normal.
Thanks,

I have been hitting the * button after reviewing my voicemail messages, but the indicator light stays on.
Today, I tried staying on the line (not pressing off or call end) after pressing * and waiting on the line until a busy signal could be heard. The voicemail light disappeared.
