Post subject: How to configure for Remote Desktop???
Hi,
I have the following setup and would like to be able to access my office computer(s) from my home.
2 Windows XP computers
Road Runner broadband modem
LinkSys broadband router - model RT31P2
The LinkSys is connected to the RR modem
the 2 computers are connected to the LinkSys router
I have a static IP for my RR modem
Can someone point me to instructions (detailed if possible) on how to configure my LinkSys router so that I can access both OR either computer using Microsoft's Remote Desktop?
Thank you in advance very much.
Pete

This is not really the forum for this, but RDP uses TCP port 3389. This can be changed though. Check out Microsoft's KB article for more info:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306759
You will need to change one of the ports for one of the PCs behind your firewall if you want to access both of these boxes. If only one, set up port forwarding of TCP 3389 to the internal IP address of the PC you are trying to hit. Make sure you set the internal IP of the PC as static, so your DHCP will not mess with your address listed in the port forwarding settings. That should be about it.

Here's a
link
to a FAQ at DSL Reports about setting up Remote Desktop. It has alot of information and there is a section about the routers as well. Should be able to help you get set-up.
