Hello everyone. I purchased a PAP2 yesterday and am about to activate new service but came across a number of fax related threads yesterday that have me worried. Can you help me out?
I read all the stuff about how folks could not send faxes and the recommendations to slow down the fax speed, use 2-conductor wire, etc. But I could not find anything on how to set up the fax to auto receive and not get mixed up with voicemail.
If vm will pick up on 5th ring for example, should the fax be set to pick up before vm? Currently, I have an answering machine set to pick up on 4th ring and the fax to pick up on 5th ring. The fax listens to the message and if a fax tone it picks it up. How would this work with Vonage vm? Have the fax pick up before vm? Would this prevent voice calls from getting through to vm?
I don't fax often, maybe once per month. But I like the ability to have people send a fax to the house if needed.
Any help? Thanks in advance. |

I personally prefer to do faxes manually, because of the issues you've mentioned. I don't find that to be a problem.
Once Vonage VM picks up, your system is out of the picture. The fax machine won't hear anything and won't be able to respond. If you want to have automatic fax, I'd forget about Vonage VM. Just disable VM and use your answering machine and fax strategy exactly as you're doing now. |
