Its more then 3 weeks and Vonage still unable to transfer my original phone number. Too many calls to Vonage and so many tickets open but no progress. Every time they give you a new story. |

CSR told me my official date to transfer is 12/28 and it should transfer on that day. Today I called again they told me it should have been transfer on 12/28 so they giving it to some Lead person to make sure it happens in next 24 hrs. I seriously doubt it will transfer in next 24 hrs. |

What is the carrier that currently holds your phone number? It's usually not Vonage that is the culprit in these transfers from what I've read (by the way, there is a specific forum for LNP issues). Usually it's the Ma Bell who drags their butt in making the transfer happen. All Vonage can do is request the transfer and then wait, just like you. |

Hmm, there goes that idea. Just FYI, when my number transferred from Qwest, it happened on the 27th. I know this because I started receiving inbound calls on Vonage. It wasn't until the 29th that I got an email from Vonage stating that my number had been transferred. About 5 minutes after I got the email that my number had been transferred, I got an email that my number was scheduled to be transferred on the 29th. So they may be experiencing a back up in the notification of transfers. Have you tried calling the number to see if it really is still ringing through on SBC? |

You may want to physically check who owns the number currently. Using a third party number ownership tool such as Nextel's website may help. Try this website: http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/wnp/en/Action/PECLanding
Put in your telephone number and your zip code, click on check elegibility, click on the check box next to your number and click continue. It will give you the current owner of your telephone number. This may not be 100 % as this stuff may be out of date by a few hours, however this can help you understand where the problem is.
If it shows ownership as someone other then your current carrier then it is a good possibility that the process is almost complete. If your number still shows ownership as your old provider then you know that even though they stated they released it they might not have or they only partially released the number ( which happens alot of times ).
Hope this helps you. |

Not a problem, here to help. Seems as though even though SBC has stated they ported the number out they haven't completed the process yet. Therefore Vonage's carriers haven't picked that number up yet.
I would give it another few days. If you don't hear anything from Vonage then you may want to try calling in again and just asking an agent to escelate one of your tickets to the LNP department.
Do you have any work orders on your current number with SBC? How about any new features added or present features that might have been missed in the original sign up (like distinctive ring)? This can all slow down the process. |
