Hi,

What they told me was that I couldn't have my number back, I had to talk to the company that handles numbers through Vonage, which I believe they said was something like Red Star???. I asked for contact info and they said they didn't have it.

Oh well Que sara sara

There are conservatively 198 threads dealing with anonymous call rejection. This same advice you were given in this thread has been given many, many times before. It is available by searching the forums.

That actually reminds me that I'm shocked there isn't any FAQ in any of these forums ... considering the nature of these forums, and the amount of repeated threads, it would make a lot of sense to build one.

They are somewhat dated and I am speaking with someone to update them, but the FAQ's do exist.

if you wanted to block unknown or anon callers you could find a willing friend with a pots line that does have anonymous caller reject and setup up Vonage to simu-ring his phone #.

your phone (may) ring just once but the friends acr would grab the call and play the please unblock your # message since Vonage passed the calller id info onto all the phones you simu-ring.

Sorry, but death threats sound kind of serious to me. What I'd so is get a softphone number, then after that tell Vonage you want to make THAT one your primary number, and get rid of the old number completely. Porting a number is fun and great to have for years and years, but it sounds like you need to just do a plain old disappearing act.

armresl,

I am still flabbergasted that your police department is unwilling to force Vonage into tracing this call. I am just stunned. I would go to the Police Department and ask to talk to the chief. This is ridiculous. Your life is being threatened and they are treating it like it's a practical joke.

How about simulringing or forwarding your phone to the local police department?

Just once or twice of the perp hearing "Thank you for calling the police department" ought to make them stop.

haha, I did that once, many years ago on my cell, middle of night, someone was calling to harrass me, they called over and over and over, so i forwarded my cell to the cop shop for a few hours, they never did call again..
